Before I left Erie, Chetty and Michael (an AWESOME couple who I also had the opportunity to photograph together in an EnGAYgement session that was also featured on So You’re EnGAYged- a wedding reseource for LGBT & Allied couples) booked me to shoot a tribute to famous photographer, Adam Bouska’s, NOH8 campaign. I, of course, jumped at the opportunity.
For those unfamiliar, “the NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest created by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley in direct response to the passage of Poposition 8. Photos feature subjects with duct tape over their mouths, symbolizing their voices being silenced by Prop 8 and similar legislation around the world, with “NOH8 painted on one cheek in protest”. “
Adam Bouska was cool enough to allow us to give this tribute of a photo shoot our best shot (although, I am FAR frown his amazing skill level, especially on the studio front!), and even featured one of my photos of Michael on his website!
Although, like I said, I am FAR from a stellar studio photographer, I am extremely proud of these images…not because of the technique or my post-processing, but because of what these images represent, and HOW they represent the two incredible men in front of the lens.
Thank you to Chetty and Michael for choosing me to be a part of such a meaningful project! And again, thank you to Adam Bouska for starting this widespread awareness by means of his incredible images!
